Happy Birthday, Christian!

Here's the birthday boy and his friends with Chuck E Cheese! Christian had been talking about having his party there for MONTHS, so we gave in and decided to honor his wishes. We just hope it's the last birthday party we'll ever have to endure at Chuck E Cheese's again!! He and his friends (Hunter Branham, Ian Anthony, Donovan Jackson, and Kyle Pogue, with Danielle Rapanos and Elyse in back) had a great time!!

Some of our best friends from Michigan, Alex, Rachael, and Danielle Rapanos, came to visit us over spring break.

This is a picture of all of us having a feast at P.F. Chang's in downtown Indianapolis (my favorite restaurant!!). We spent the rest of the day at Circle Center Mall and then had Christian's birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese's. The next day (Saturday) was spent around the house and then we celebrated Arnold's birthday that evening. We've known the Rapanos' for a long time....since Trevan and Rachael were about 1 1/2 years old!! When they were little, they had a love-hate relationship. They always wanted to play together, but they'd always end up fighting! Now (at age 14) they're great friends, as are Danielle and Elyse.

Wired for Sound

Hunter had to go to St. Francis last week for a sleep study. Here's a picture of him before he went to bed. As you can see, there were wires everywhere!! I got to sleep in a chair that converted to a bed.....not the most comfortable night I've ever had, for sure, but I was glad to be there with Hunter. The next day he had to stay and go through a series of short naps. Every two hours they would have him try to sleep. If he didn't fall asleep in 15 minutes, they would have him get up. If he did fall asleep, they would give him 15 minutes to sleep to see if he went into REM. Hunter fell asleep every time!! And, apparently, he did go into REM a couple of times. We're not sure what that means, but we're looking forward to getting the results in a week or so.

What's new.....

Those of you who have checked our blog several times have probably realized that I'm not real good about updating it often....probably because I don't know that our day to day activities are all that interesting to anyone but us!!! But I thought I'd let you know what I've been up to lately.
For the past 2 days I have felt like a Domestic Goddess. I've baked 3 batches of yeast rolls, 2 batches of chocolate chip cookies, and made Broccoli, Cheese, Noodle soup. I feel like I've been living in the kitchen, which I actually don't mind! In fact, in another life I would love to be a Pastry Chef. Now before you wonder why in the world I would be making that much for my family, I must tell you that the rolls are for a church activity (much to the disappointment of my family!), but everything else was for us.
The other thing that's been taking up a lot of my time (other than wandering around the high school looking for Trevan...but that's a whole other story!) is that I've been working for Estee Lauder a lot the past two weeks. They lost a full-time employee at the counter at Macy's at the Greenwood mall, so I have been helping to fill those hours. Last week I worked 22 hours and this week I'll work around 17. It's not bad, but I'm glad it's only for a month! The Saturday shifts are the worst....last weekend I had to work 2 - 10 pm. This Saturday is not as bad - I work 11 - 6. And, of course, when you have a bunch of women working together, there's bound to be drama. Right now there's a "bad apple" at the counter that is causing all sorts of problems. I've only had to work with her once, though, so I haven't had to deal with it. I just get to hear all the juicy gossip!! Everyone that I've worked with has been extremely nice and enjoyable to be around. We're in "Gift with Purchase" right now, so it's busy. In fact, the counter sold over $22,000 in presale orders!!! Those are people that were called and ordered their product ahead of time to get the gift. I'm always amazed at the amount of money that women will spend on cosmetics.....they say it's a recession-proof industry and I believe it! And, of course, I do what I can to suppport the economy!!

Other than that, we have had a lot of illness in our family. We've had the flu twice and strep throat a couple of times, plus some weird virus that won't go away. It's definitely been a bad year for us! Hunter is going to be participating in a sleep study soon. He feels tired all the time and all of his bloodwork is normal, so they're wondering if he has sleep apnea or something. His tonsils are quite large, apparently, so that may be the culprit. Anyway, he gets to go to St. Francis Hospital during Spring Break and sleep with a bunch of wires hooked up to him. I've always wondered how anyone can really sleep well with all of that on, but it must work. So, that's the latest news for us. Thanks for reading our blog!!

Christian scores a basket!!

Last Saturday was Christian's last basketball game and he FINALLY scored a basket! We knew that it was crunch time and that his mood the rest of the day would be determined by whether or not he was able to make that elusive basket and he did it! As soon as he made it, he looked over at Wendy with a HUGE smile on his face and she knew that all was right in the world....at least for a couple of hours!!
